I've having problems with MikTex 2.4. It appears that dvips was broken badly. It doesn't work with the txfonts package, and my margins get messed up.

Is there any way I can download a previous version somehow? I tried the MikTex project website, but all download links actually lead to the same version (2.4).

Can I get an old version somewhere? I suppose an alternative might be to go straight from a.tex to.pdf, but I have to make sure all fonts are embedded, are type 1, and that the pictures in the document are stored losslessly. Is there another program to go from.dvi to.pdf that will let me dictate this type of stuff? Jondinerstein@yahoo.com (Jonathan Dinerstein) writes: >I've having problems with MikTex 2.4.

Can I get an old >version somewhere? [cut] No, the old versions aren't available on the website. (Probably there are plenty of users that can send you an old version.) However, dvips is not broken and txfonts works like a charm. My first guess is that you haven't noticed the change of font map handling - see Running 'initexmf --mkmaps' will probably fix your font problems. The margins are wrong because the default in config.ps isn't what you want.

Either change config.ps or use the '-t papersize' option of dvips. Hans -- The UK (La)TeX FAQ - The Not So Short. - TeX at ODP - http://dmoz.org/Computers/Software/Typesetting/TeX/.
