New disk, old disk? Does it already have a partition? What do you want to do exactly? Format the partition it's on.

Or delete and recreate that partition. Or install a new OS in it's place (the XP install let you erase the partition).

It might depend on what you want to do after you deleted it. Most Linux distro's support an installation that makes a dual-boot system from an existing single-OS installation (XP for example). But I'm not sure about Solaris. We do have a Linux forum, but we don't have a Solaris forum.
